This morning I woke up to a beautiful bouquet from my husband, Bill—three red roses…
Living in Six-Seven? What To Do When You Don’t Know What To Do
Six-Seven has been the popular irritant of parents, teachers and even businesses for more than a year now. What does it mean?
Rapper Skrilla released the song “Doot Doot (6 7)” in late 2024/early 2025, repeating the phrase “six-seven” in a catchy way.
TikTok basketball edits started using the audio constantly — especially clips of NBA player LaMelo Ball, who is famously 6’7″ tall.
High-school basketball influencer Taylen “TK” Kinney kept saying “six-seven” in videos and interviews, which turned it into a meme phrase kids repeated everywhere.
Then Gen Alpha kids embraced it precisely because it was silly and confusing. Adults asking “What does it mean?” actually made it spread faster because the kids found it funny to “know” something the grown-ups didn’t.
By late 2025 it became a full pop-culture phenomenon:
- kids yelling it in schools
- classroom bans
- hand gestures
- celebrities joking about it
- even brands using it in marketing campaigns.
A lot of commentators described it as part of Gen Alpha’s “absurdist” humor — memes that are funny because they make little sense.
EXACTLY! 6/7 means “whatever”, “don’t know”, “this or that” . Our many grandkids mostly use it to express “equal choices: six OR seven” So all year, we have been expressing our LONG WAIT as a 6/7 and when people ask us, “Where are you moving?” or “What is next? ( after this decade of caregiving in balance with speaking, writing and my recovery from cancer). We are likely to wave our hands up and down in a “six-seven” motion with a shoulder shrug of “don’t know” or “Only God knows!”
You can impagine the delight when our grands got to throw us a SIX-SEVEN birthday party recently!
So What Should We Do when We Don’t Know What to Do (or What Is Next?)
God used this section of scripture several times in our life to help lead us forward: when I was praying about if I shopuld marry Bill; When we were transitioning from youth ministry to the Lead Pastgorate, when we were praying where to live while caregiving Bill’s parents (on a boat?) And NOW, our 67th year of life as we upgrade Bill’s folks home to sell and move…where?
