Celebrating 45 Years of Love: Pam and Bill Farrel’s Remarkable Journey
This week, we joyfully celebrate Pam and Bill Farrel’s 45th wedding anniversary — a beautiful testament to enduring love, faith, and commitment. Over four and a half decades, their journey has been a shining example of what it means to love deeply, serve faithfully, and grow together. To honor this special milestone, we reflect on their love using the timeless acrostic LOVE, inspired by powerful Bible verses. We will have Pam and Bill share their thoughts below:
Loyalty: A Steadfast Bond That Time Can’t Sever
We have tried to demonstrate unwavering loyalty through every season of life. Our goal has been a steadfast commitment to each other built on trust, faith, and mutual respect.
“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.” — Proverbs 3:3
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” — John 15:13
Loyalty reminds us that true love isn’t just a feeling — it’s a daily choice to honor and cherish each other, no matter the circumstances.
Openness: Sharing Hearts, Holding Secrets Never
One of the hallmarks of our relationship that we have been complimented on is our openness.
We have built a marriage founded on honest communication and vulnerability, always willing to listen and learn from each other. We have lso made the decision to never hold secrets from each other. We do keep confidences in our professional ministry, to protect those we minister too– but the love we share between us– that is an open book– right down to knowing one another’s passwords!
“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” — John 15:12
“Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” — 1 John 3:18
Because we have been willing to also be transparent in our love story, that openness has not only strengthened our bond but has also inspired countless couples through our speaking ministry and 60+ books.
Value: Treasuring Moments, Big and Small
We have learned the value of treasuring both extraordinary experiences and everyday moments. We have seen how honoring each other brings joy and fulfillment to our lives– but also to our family and friendships.
“Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” — Romans 12:10
“And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.” — Colossians 3:14
By valuing each other’s dreams, efforts, and presence, we’ve built a life rich with meaning and purpose.
Empathy: Feeling Each Other’s Joy and Call
We have prioritized empathy which has allowed us to walk through both triumphs and trials hand in hand. They’ve carried each other’s burdens while celebrating each other’s victories with genuine joy. We know what it means to live our our wedding vow, “for better or worse’ richer or poorer, in sickness and in health.”
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2
“Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.” — 1 Peter 3:8
Our consistent compassionate has created a safe space for each other, fostering a relationship grounded in kindness and mutual support.
It is our hope and prayer that living our these components of L.O.V.E. will create a lasting legacy of love for generations to come.
